Our own Things With Wings provided the guest mix on this month’s Invisible Cities show. Check it out!
In preparation for our next party (this friday), we wanted to make a short introduction to the music of the two special guest DJs who will be making an appearance.
Firstly, we are lucky enough to have a DJ set from House of Black Lanterns – his second set in Berlin since the release of his LP on the incredible Houndstooth label that has just found itself at the top of lots of best label of the year lists (see here, here, and here).
To get a taste of what to expect, check out his Boiler Room set below.
We are also over the moon to have a DJ set from Aashton, the new alias of Brighton based DJ and producer Dominic Ashton, former lead singer of the band Kinema and one-half of House duo Aashton & Swift.
After realising that Aashton’s tracks had found their way into the “dancefloor weapons” crates of the Skrufix residents, we asked him to come to Berlin to play for us – and he graciously accepted. He has also prepared a special mix for us to give people some idea of what to expect. Check it out below.
If you’re in Berlin this Friday – don’t sleep on this party. It’s going to be BIG! x
We are over the moon to announce our first party of 2014. Time to shake off that post-NYE haze as we’ve got something a bit special lined up…
It’s on Friday 10th January at the wonderful Lotus Hall venue in Berlin. Entry is a mere €5 after midnight, and completely free before.
We hope to see you on the dancefloor!!
EPM are hosting a release party for The Third Man album at Suicide Circus and have asked Skrufix duo Turtlez to play! The line-up includes:
The Third Man
More details as we have them…
Skrufix will be taking over the Holz floor of Suicide Circus on the 7th June for what is set to be a wonderful night. Save the date and watch this space for more details!
After hearing his fine reworking of the first ‘Things With Wings’ release on Skrufix, they practically snapped his hands off in their eagerness for a fresh original track of his own.
Thankfully his hands didn’t become completely detached and he was able to put together the deceptively wonky tech-house tune ‘Walk In Stomp’!
Having worked with countless other producers and bands over the years he is certainly no novice. MightyHor has honed his production style for a number of years now, and throughout his experiments with different styles and influences has remained a master of driving synths and bass.
Completing the package is a remix of ‘Walk In Stomp’ by The Crane, who featured on the label’s last release as a member of production duo Turtlez. Crane is a regular DJ at Skrufix’s Berlin parties and a prolific producer who puts his hand to pretty much any style one could ask for (and a few which nobody ever requested at all): his danceably chopped up 2-step version is an absolute gem.
After a few months out, we return for the next of our Skrufix Label Nacht series. Following our hugely successful parties last year, we kick things off for the year with another party at the cool little Mezcaleria Lupita venue.
The original Skrufix dream team will be delivering the veritable variety of beats for the night! These are the now regular Sisyphos DJ, Ralph Alfa, and then label bosses Shanghai Burton and Things WIth Wings, who has been keeping the Skrufix name active with gigs at Farbfernseher, Suicide Circus and many more venues over the past six months or so.
As well as the general Skrufix excuses for a party, we will also be celebrating our next release out 3 days after the party, coming from MightyHor. The next big production talent on Skrufix, The Crane, is on remix duties for this release and will also deliver his mixing styles on the night alongside the other aforementioned residents.
More info will also be posted on the venues Facebook page
After the wonderful dancefloor session in December, Hypercolour label boss Cedric Maison has asked Things With Wings to play at this lovely intimate Xbreg venue once again. This time, the line-up is just the two of them, giving enough time to explore the depths of their record boxes.
Check out the RA event here.
Fancy having a go at remixing Things With Wings’ track “Scurrd”?
We’ve just released the stems for it under a Creative Commons Attribution license. That means you can use the parts in your productions in whatever way you want (including commercial use). All we ask is that if you make something wonderful – that you consider sending it to us. We’d love to hear what people make, and it may even be something for a future Skrufix release. The remix parts can be downloaded from Soundcloud.
